How the Random City Generator Works
When you press Generate, the tool calls JavaScript's Math.random() to pick a position in the city list at random. If you have chosen a continent filter, the full 75-city pool is narrowed to that continent first — then one city is drawn from those results. Because the index is chosen with a uniform distribution, every city within the active filter has exactly the same probability of appearing; large cities like Tokyo are no more likely to appear than smaller ones like Montevideo.

Example Cities This Tool Can Produce
To give you a sense of the variety on offer, here are three real entries drawn from different continents:
- Jakarta, Indonesia — the largest city in the database by population (35.4 million), drawn from the Asia pool. Selecting "Asia" as your continent makes results like this more likely.
- Buenos Aires, Argentina — a South American capital with a population of 15.4 million. A good example of the kind of major regional hub the tool surfaces when "South America" is chosen.
- Wellington, New Zealand — one of the smaller cities in the database at 420,000 people, showing that the tool is not biased toward megacities; every Oceania city shares equal selection weight.

Q.Does every city have an equal chance of being picked?
Within the selected continent filter, yes — every city has an equal chance. The tool uses JavaScript's Math.random() to index into the filtered list, so no city is weighted above any other.
Q.How many cities can I generate at once?
You can generate between 1 and 10 cities per click. Use the count option before pressing Generate to set the batch size.
Q.What information does each city result show?
Each result displays the city name, country, continent, and population figure (where available). You can copy the city name to your clipboard with one click.
Q.Is the population data current?
