Perfect for Writers and Developers

Whether you're creating fictional characters, generating test data, or need realistic demographics, our birthday generator provides comprehensive date information with zodiac signs, ages, and day calculations for authentic results.

How the Random Birthday Generator Works

When you press Generate, the tool picks a date using JavaScript's Math.random() — a built-in function that returns an evenly distributed decimal between 0 and 1. In year-range mode the generator converts your start and end years into Unix timestamps, multiplies the random value by the gap between them, and reconstructs a full calendar date from that point in time. This means every millisecond in the range has an equal shot, so dates in short months are naturally less common than dates in long months — just as they are in real life. If you have turned off leap-day birthdays and the draw lands on 29 February, the generator immediately tries again rather than adjusting the date, keeping the distribution honest. Age-range mode works differently: it first picks a random integer age within your bounds, works backwards to a birth year, then picks a random month and day within that year — so the age distribution is uniform rather than the date distribution.

Every calculation — age, day of the week, zodiac sign, and leap-year status — runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted to a server and nothing is stored, so the dates you generate stay private. The day-of-week figure uses the browser's built-in Intl API with the en-AU locale, so dates are formatted in Australian style (day month year).

Example Generated Birthdays

To give you a sense of what the tool produces, here are three realistic outputs across different settings:

  • 15 June 1987 — Monday, ♊ Gemini, age 39 — a typical result in year-range mode (1950–2010 default). Useful as test data for an employee profile or a character backstory set in the late 1980s.
  • 29 February 1988 — Monday, ♓ Pisces, age 38— a leap-day birthday, shown only when "Include February 29th" is ticked. These are statistically rare (roughly 1-in-1,461 births) and add a distinctive touch to fictional characters.
  • 3 November 2001 — Saturday, ♏ Scorpio, age 24 — a result you might see in age-range mode set to 20–30, handy for generating privacy-safe demo data for a university student management system.

Birthday Generator Data at a Glance

Each zodiac sign covers a different number of calendar days, so a randomly generated birthday is slightly more likely to fall under some signs than others. The table below shows the span used by this generator (matching traditional Western astrology boundaries):

Zodiac signs: date ranges and number of calendar days each covers
SignDate RangeDays
♑ Capricorn22 Dec – 19 Jan29
♒ Aquarius20 Jan – 18 Feb30
♓ Pisces19 Feb – 20 Mar30
♈ Aries21 Mar – 19 Apr30
♉ Taurus20 Apr – 20 May31
♊ Gemini21 May – 20 Jun31
♋ Cancer21 Jun – 22 Jul32
♌ Leo23 Jul – 22 Aug31
♍ Virgo23 Aug – 22 Sep31
♎ Libra23 Sep – 22 Oct30
♏ Scorpio23 Oct – 21 Nov30
♐ Sagittarius22 Nov – 21 Dec30

Cancer covers the most days (32) and Capricorn the fewest (29), so a random birthday lands under Cancer about 8.8 % of the time versus Capricorn's 7.9 %. All 365 days are accounted for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.How accurate are the age calculations?

Our age calculations are completely accurate, accounting for leap years and whether the person has had their birthday this year. Ages are calculated to the exact day based on the current date.

Q.Are the zodiac signs calculated correctly?

Yes! Our zodiac sign calculations use the traditional Western astrology dates, accounting for the exact day and month to determine the correct sign with its authentic symbol.

Q.Can I generate birthdays for specific age ranges?

Absolutely! You can either specify a year range (e.g., 1980-2000) or use age ranges (e.g., 25-45 years old). The age range option automatically calculates appropriate birth years to achieve your desired current ages.

Q.What about leap year birthdays?

You can choose to include or exclude February 29th birthdays. Our generator properly handles leap years and can generate realistic birthdays for all scenarios, clearly marking leap year births when they occur.

Q.What date range can I generate birthdays within?

In year-range mode you can slide the start year as far back as 1900 and the end year up to the current year, giving you over a century of possible birth dates. In age-range mode you can set ages from 0 to 120, which the tool converts to birth years automatically.

Q.Does the tool generate real people's birthdays?

No. The generator creates random dates within the range you set — it has no connection to any real person's information. The output is entirely fictional and safe to use as test or placeholder data.

Q.What does 'day of week' mean and why is it useful?

The day of the week shows which day of the calendar (Monday, Tuesday, etc.) the generated birthday falls on, calculated precisely for that date in history. This is handy for writers who want internal consistency in a character's backstory, or developers testing date-display logic.

Q.Is February 29 handled correctly for non-leap years?

Yes. When leap-day birthdays are enabled, the generator only produces a 29 February date for years that are genuine leap years (divisible by 4, with century-year exceptions). If it draws a 29 February in a non-leap year, it tries again rather than rounding to 28 February, so the distribution stays accurate.

Q.How many birthdays can I generate at once?

You can generate up to 10 birthdays in a single click using the 'How many birthdays' selector. Each one is drawn independently, so you may occasionally see the same date appear twice — just as you would if you rolled a calendar at random multiple times.
